The Shum Foundation has entered its soft launch phase, marking a new chapter in a journey that began more than a decade ago with Cars n Coffee Liverpool and extends over thirty years of relationship building and community involvement by its founder, Norman Shum.

What started as small gatherings of enthusiasts has evolved into a connected network of people from across the motoring world, including collectors, engineers, families and creatives, all united by a shared appreciation for culture, craftsmanship and collaboration. The Foundation now provides structure and purpose to that spirit, ensuring it continues to grow and inspire future generations.

“The Foundation is the natural next step,” says Norman Shum, Founder. “For more than thirty years I have had the privilege of meeting people from every part of this industry, people who care deeply about cars but even more about the relationships and purpose around them. This platform is a way to give that collective energy direction and permanence.”

At the heart of The Shum Foundation are five core pillars that guide its work and identity:

  1. Community – nurturing inclusivity, collaboration and genuine human connection.
  2. Networking – creating opportunities for people and businesses to connect through shared values and ambition.
  3. Cars N Coffee – continuing the legacy of Liverpool’s flagship automotive gathering that brings enthusiasts together every month.
  4. Charity – supporting local initiatives and causes that strengthen the community through meaningful action.
  5. Media – using storytelling, photography and film to document, educate and inspire future generations.

These pillars represent the foundation of every project, event and collaboration undertaken by the organisation.

Through its soft launch, The Shum Foundation introduces a new digital platform that will act as a central hub for community projects, partnerships and creative ventures. It is designed to connect enthusiasts, storytellers and organisations who want to contribute to something lasting and meaningful.

“We have been working on Norman’s vision for many months, and the result is what you see today – the beginning of a foundation for what comes next,” says Karol Debski, Head of Media and Marketing. “Our aim is to create a space where every enthusiast and anyone who wishes to grow within the world of motoring can find their path or carve their own. I am truly grateful for the trust placed in me to help build this brand and community from the ground up.”

The Foundation’s approach remains grounded in authenticity. Each initiative continues to reflect the same values that shaped Cars n Coffee Liverpool: openness, generosity and shared passion. Its mission is to create meaningful experiences that bring people together and celebrate the spirit of motoring as a catalyst for connection, creativity and culture.
